Inaugural Bee Safe Drive Fore Blue Tournament Raises Over $118,000
Greensboro, NC – July 30, 2025 – The Greensboro Police Foundation is proud to announce that the inaugural Bee Safe Drive Fore Blue Tournament raised an impressive $118,911 in support of innovative police programs, equipment, and technology that help make Greensboro a safer place to live, work, and visit.
Held on May 20, 2025, at the beautiful Grandover Resort & Spa, the sold-out golf tournament brought together more than 120 golfers and 54 generous sponsors for a day of camaraderie, competition, and community impact. The tournament was co-chaired by Erin Molinaro and Richard Vanore, Jr., both members of the Executive Committee of the Greensboro Police Foundation.
The event was made possible thanks to the outstanding support of Bee Safe Storage and Wine Cellar, the tournament’s Title Sponsor, for helping launch the event; Koury Corporation, the Chief Sponsor, for hosting and supporting the mission; and all of the sponsors and supporters whose generosity helps advance the mission of the Greensboro Police Foundation.
Mark Wheelihan, Co-President of the Greensboro Police Foundation, shared, “This tournament exceeded all expectations. The turnout, the support, and the energy from the community were truly inspiring. These funds will go a long way toward helping our officers protect and serve with the best possible resources.”
Golfers enjoyed a variety of contests, including Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and a Hole-In-One Challenge featuring prizes such as a $20,000 cash prize, a Harley-Davidson Softail Motorcycle, and more. A unique Drone Drop Challenge added a fun twist—players selected where their golf balls would be dropped on the green via drone. Special guest Jeff “Critter” Crittenden, five-time World Long Drive Champion, was on-site to demonstrate the power and precision that made him a champion.
Chief John Thompson made an appearance to thank participants and show support on behalf of the Greensboro Police Department. Also in attendance were K9 Officer Porter and members of the Hazardous Devices Unit, who greeted golfers and added to the day’s excitement.
The Greensboro Police Foundation is led by Co-Presidents Mark Wheelihan and George Hoyle, along with a dedicated Board of Directors committed to supporting the Greensboro Police Department through strategic community partnerships and enhanced public safety initiatives.
